Charcoal Figure Drawings.
Charcoal offers a way to capture the movement of a live model. Charcoal readily smudges and smears and works as an extension of my arm. I start with simple, loose gestural drawings, then give the lines and smears form. Sometimes this can create a tighter image, and other times I leave remnants of my first quick strokes.

The timeless beauty and complexity of the human figure draws me in and captivates me.
I work with mediums that easily capture the movement of my hand and take on a life of their own. I do not strive for perfection. Instead I concentrate on capturing an emotional experience through the application of color and my medium.
